Dennis Saye Old World Craftsmanship – An Inherited Legacy Dennis Saye did not realize that his professional calling and life’s path would be set at the tender age of 11. His devotion to the art of traditional Northern New Mexico and Western homebuilding, including adobe and hewn-log, was cemented early in his childhood when he started working alongside his grandfather, a respected craftsman. His grandfather’s restoration projects of historical Northern New Mexico buildings were well known and admired. Saye proudly continued learning from and working with him for nearly 20 years. Later, when his grandfather joined his company, they once again worked together during the last years of his grandfather’s life. Saye and his staff have mastered the traditional methods of adobe homebuilding, such as creating treatments to aged wood, unique stucco applications and various mud plaster techniques. Saye Builders has earned a solid reputation for being specialists in custom homebuilding throughout Santa Fe County and Northern New Mexico. Over the years, Saye’s knack for bringing traditional methods into the contemporary realm has introduced him to new challenges. Having built nine custom homes in Las Campanas, he was honored when he was selected to build the first residential log cabin structure in The Estancias at Las Campanas. “I believe folks will be amazed with the authenticity in the design and the romance of the Old West that it evokes,” states Saye. “This expansion of the Design Guidelines to include a variety of traditional Western architecture such as log and chinking and pitched roof design is an exciting new phase for Las Campanas and one that we are pleased to be associated with.” Saye Builders, Inc. received the Category IV Award ($951,000 to $1,795,000) by the esteemed Santa Fe Area Homebuilders Association during the 2004 Haciendas – A Parade of Homes Event for his log cabin at Las Campanas. He has won three other awards through the Parade of Homes including Best Green Builder of the Year, 2006, in two price categories. Dennis has built a total of 15 homes in Las Campanas and is a resident of the community.
